I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Mrs Gouri Joshi and the InsideGoa team for their consideration and forthcoming response.
I am a woman of substance, always envisioned of building and growing businesses that are focused on simple yet in-demand consumer products. I always believed in being an independent (financially) woman and started working soon after completing my studies. I was fortunate enough to work with some of the finest publishing houses and print media firms (ROLI BOOKS/ OUTLOOK Magazine).
The idea of Purple Orchid came to me, when I moved to Goa in the year 2007. Somewhere down in the heart I knew that I have to start working again, but there weren’t many career options in Goa, which would fit my bill and I couldn’t afford a full time job as I had an infant baby with me. As I, always had a crave to do something in fashion, and I believe “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only, fashion is something in the air. It’s the wind that blows in the new fashion, you feel it coming, you smell it. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. Hence, after putting much thought process I embarked myself to open a small boutique to give a shape to my dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. Thus, PURPLE ORCHIDwas born. My ability to identify right product for the right person, gained me good amount of clients in a very short period. That motivated me and gave me confidence to move on to the next level. But life is full of challenges. There were certain challenges in regards to the space, manpower etc, for which I had to shift my boutique to a newer destination. Online selling fever was catching up by now. Hence, I decided to work from home and I created my first WhatsApp group in 2016 (PURPLE ORCHID by Ritu Mehra) which multiplied gradually into many groups. Now I am happy after gaining much recognition, than I would have anticipated. My clients who are spread across India and abroad, their comments and feedbacks put smile on my face and motivates me to give them the best.
“There is no royal flower-strewn path to success. And if there is, I have not found it, if I have accomplished anything in life it is because I have been willing to work hard.”
