The United Nations General Assembly drafted a Resolution and a total of 117 nations sponsored this resolution .
Modiji suggested 21st June as International yoga day as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and from the perspective of Yoga it has special significance in the world.
The summer solstice marks the transition to Dakshinayan.
The first yogi or the Adi Yogi is known to have started imparting knowledge to mankind on this day.
Since the year 2015, 21st June is being celebrated all over the world with great enthusiasm and fervour.
