Foxes retreat Arpora, in association with The Guitar Bar – Goa, along with it’s associated partners Axl school of Music and Technology, Goa, JoJo’s Music School and Performing Art Center, Mumbai and Da Capo Sound, Siolim – Goa is holding it’s 2nd International Blues festival at Arpora – Goa on December 19, 20, 21. The festival is a fund raiser that supports the music education of the underprivileged children, helping them with tuition, purchases of books and instruments. This year the festival will feature blues music performed by local, national and international artiste.
Headlining the festival this year is JoJo’s Blues Project, with Joe D’Costa a fantastic Mumbai/Calcutta guitar virtuoso on electric blues guitar, gifted Goan soulful singer Joanne Fernandes, accompanied by equally gifted musicians such as Darin DeGama on Bass, Ellister Noronha on rhythm guitar and Alister D’sa on drums, other performers scheduled are Jazz blues guitarist extraordinaire Sunny Lou from Russia, the evergreen, young and flamboyant funk blues guitarist Steve Grove from Canada, as well as the one and only Goan legendary musician who needs no introduction, the multi-talented and multi-instrumentalist Roque Lazarus.
The festival will also offer workshops in the first half of the day and music lovers and students who wish to enlist and expand their musical knowledge may please check festival updates on various social media platforms. The workshops will be conducted individually by Sunny Lou, Roque Lazarus, Joe D’Costa, Goa’s dynamic vocalist Garfield (Gary) Oliveira, and the highly talented and heavily sort after recording engineer Aditya (Addy) Naik. Introducing the Blues and its sub-genre’s in a seminar will be Festival Promoter Carl DeSouza, who will discuss the various types of blues with an aim to promote the blues in Goa.
The festival will highlight the essence of blues, a genre that originated in America and has it’s various roots in different parts of that country. There will be food and beverage stalls at the venue. The festival workshops will begin at 10;00 am sharp and the live music performances will begin at 5.30 pm and finish off at 10.00 pm.
