The Goan music lovers will be enthralled to witness the wizardry of top level performance in the Instrumental Music – Clarinet in Indian Classical style to be presented by Ustad Abdul Salam Naushad and Carnatic Instrumental Music featuring “Stree Taal Group of Panchakanya’s” namely Sukanya Ramgopal(Ghatam, Ghatatarang & Konnakul), Soumya Ramachandran (Violin) Y.G. Srilatha,(Carnatic Veena) Lakshmi Pillai (Mrudangam) & Bhagyalakshmi M. Krishna(Morching) in the concerts organised by Kala Academy Goa on the eve of Republic Day i.e on Saturday, the 25 th January 2020 from 5.00 p.m onwards at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy Complex, Panaji-Goa. Shri. Govind Gaude, Hon’ble Art & Culture Minister & Chairman of Kala Academy Goa will grace as the Chief Guest for the programme. The programme will be open to all the music lovers, however, some seats will be reserved for the invitees.

Clarinet Gharana. Later, had the fortune to learn under Ustad Moinuddin Khan and also under the tutelage of Pt. Shrikrishna Savner. Ustad Abdul Salam Naushad is known for purity of his Clarinet playing and is considered to be a master of some complex TAAN patterns, Layakari and Alaaps. He is a member of International Clarinet Association, U.S.A and is the recipient of President’s Award in 1987. He has performed in major music festivals in India and programmes at abroad.

SukanyaRamgopal is one of the frontline musicians of India and the first woman ghatam artist of the country. She has trained in the Ghatam, under the able guidance of Sri Harihara Sharma and later under Sri VikkuVinayakram. The GhataTharang is a unique idea conceptualized by Sukanya. Her commitment to breaking new ground has inspired her to play the GhataTharang with 6 – 7 ghatams of different shruthis, thereby creating melody on a percussion instrument.
This is the first time that a percussion instrument has come to occupy the center stage in a
Carnatic concert. Sukanya leads an all-women’s instrumental ensemble called
SthreeThaalTharang. She is an “A Top”grade artist of All India Radio. She is also empanelled by the ICCR as an ‘Outstanding Artiste’. She has received the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar for the year 2014.
SoumyaRamachandran started training in vocal first from her mother Smt. RajiSubbaraman and then from Smt. Balamani of Mumbai. She learnt to play the violin from Sri. Shivakumar of Mumbai. She is a “B-High” grade artiste with All India Radio, Bangalore. Lakshmi. Pillai is the disciple of Padmabhushan Dr. T. V Gopalakrishnan. Daughter of Karnataka Kalasree Vidwan Sri.Gurumurthy Thangavelu [Mridangist]. She is a national gold medalist of the year 2009-2010 organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra held at Chennai. She is a “B- High” grade from All India Radio, Bangalore. She has performed extensively in India and
Bhagyalakshmi M Krishna is the daughter and disciple of “Morching Emperor”, Vidwan Dr. L. Bhimachar, who is the greatest exponent of Morching in India. She is an “A” grade artiste of All India Radio, Bangalore. She has performed in all leading sabhas in India & abroad. Till date she has performed in more than 1500 concerts. She received “AnanyaYuvaPuraskara” in 2014 and “Best Senior Upapakkavadyam Award” from Madras Music Academy in 2017
Y.G. Srilatha Nikshith has received her initial training in Vocal and Veena from her mother Vidwan Y.G. Parimala and later under Dr. Suma Sudhindra. Currently is under tutelage of Legendary artist Lalgudi Vid. Padmavathy Ananthgopalan. She is a ‘B’ high grade artist of All India Radio and recipient of prestigious Bharatratna Dr. M.S Subbulakshmi fellowship. She has performed in prestigious sabhas in India.
